I have used Compuhost starting with V1 & a dongle. Since then I have upgraded to V2 then V3. I have also recommended Cother KJ's in using karaoke and so far 5 of then have done so and love it. Any and most errors are NOT the program but user issues. Some Windows updates can also cause problems. This program deserves a 5 star compared with others.
I've used CompuHost for 7 years, now starting with v.1 (dongle) and now v.2 (no dongle) and LOVE IT. Make sure you are using the most current version of the one you have purchased - go to the developer's page - support - then page down until you see the current version updates. Since you have purchased the original program, you may download any updates available. If your version is current (the current version shows on your splash screen when opening, and also in lower right grey bar once opened), then re-load it using the program that was saved in your downloads folder. On a re-load, you will have to reset your Options choices, but a re-load has always worked for me. Since your fill music history and singer history live in .tps files, those are not affected by the re-load.
We've been using CompuHost for several years without a problem, but with the last couple of weeks, we keep getting two error messages and can't do anything:
1. Conversion Error - Error: Possible data corruption in file. Error File; C:\ProgramFiles\CompuHost\SongList.tps
2. Program Error #90 - Unable to open Main Songlist. Program will be Terminated.
What can we do?
I was attempting to import music files to update my song list from the external hard drive when my CompuHost "froze" or something, it stopped responding and I got a blank screen on my computer I've closed the program, shut down the entire system and restarted it. When I try, I get a warning that says Error (possible data corruption in file (1735) attempting to access a record from the history file). So then I clicked OK and I got another warning saying -> Attempting to access a record from the songlist file. Or I got a another pop-up that says: "Compuhost.exe has stopped working, a problem has cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". My program has not worked for 3 days now, How can I get my CompuHost to respond again? This is the first time I've had a problem for 2 years. I have version 1.88.02
Compuhost is the undisputed king of Professional Karaoke Software.
I just got V2 and it knocked the socks of all major competitor. The features are plentiful.
Rock solid stability, friendly customer service and a dual filler music player.
I have only ripped 2 CDG's into the program and the songs appear to be working until it gets to near the end and just cuts of the last 7 or 8 seconds of the tune. I'm very frustrated and would like some advise. It also will work with any Top Tunes CGS's whatsoever. I've spent over $400.00 on this software and would like some assistance please.
I've been running Compuhost for 4 years and have ripped dozens of CD-G's without a single problem. I suggest you check your CD-G ripper and make sure it's running properly or uninstall it and re-install, then try it. Another suggestion is do not grab the program updates, not because they might not work, but because the original version has worked flawlessly, so I don't touch them. The only other thing I can say about Compuhost is make damn sure your laptop has more than the minimal things it needs to run the program correctly, since it is a very touchy program. Good luck!
I had the same problem. Compuhost CGG-Rip program is terrible. I downloaded Power CD+G Burner and it worked every time. I have closed out the Compuhost ripping program and it's been smooth ever since. Good luck.
I'm using the very latest version of CompuHost, 1.86. It is by far the worst, buggiest, worthless piece of flotsam I have ever used. I've been a professional KJ for many, many years, having transitioned from discs to digital; I thought CompuHost would be the answer. It is very ambitious, and has the best feature set in the business. But a good feature set is useless if the software crashes three or four times a night! To date, CompuHost, no matter what the version, has yet to make it through a show without crashing at least twice. It is the most frustrating piece of Karaoke software out there. There are far better choices for Karaoke hosting than CompuHost.
Compuhost used to be the best karaoke product on the market: singer management, automatic filler tunes, all the bells and whistles one would expect from a $200 program. New updates have rendered it useless: The filler tunes no longer fade correctly, the program is buggy and prone to crashes.Their solution to this problem? Blame it on microsoft, the user and finally, instead of fixing the problem, BANNING anyone in their user forums that complains.
Summary: Compuhost is having serious problems internally with their product that have not been fixed in over a year. STEER CLEAR. There are other similar karaoke software companies that provide a stable, functional product that won't embarrass you in the middle of your show, as this one now does. Personally, i've switched to PCDJ and Sax&Dotty's for a trouble-free karaoke experience. This is coming from a Professional KJ that had previously recommended to 5 other friends in the business to make the change to Compuhost. Now I am completely ashamed that I ever staked my reputation on it!
